Philadelphia's Autism Mural

Philadelphia's Autism Mural

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to forward a publicity flyer for the Autism project being done
through Mural Arts Program (MAP) in Philadelphia this year. As you may be
aware, the initial workshops for this project were held in social skills
treatment groups at SPIN through the SPIN-NET Philadelphia Autism Center
for Excellence. As the next step, MAP has scheduled a community event on
Saturday, June 29th at SPINís Frankford location. The purpose of this
two-hour event is to hear from parents, caregivers, professionals, and
individuals with ASD about their experiences living with ASD.
Additionally, the event will showcase the site for the mural, re-engage
some of the participants from the social skills groups and their families
[as their work/interactions with the artists supported the early
conceptualization of the mural] as well as a broader community of
individuals with ASD in art creation, to explain the concept for the mural,
and gain valuable community input on this subject that is near and dear to
us all. The artists will be on hand, as well as folks from MAP, for this
important event. ****

The event will run from 11-1. There will be parking nearby and it is a
very family-friendly/ child-secure event with opportunities for all within
the autism community to gather, provide input, and participate in the
creative process. ** **

Please help us spread the word on this important opportunity. Feel free to
print and post this flyer and/or distribute it through your networks
(employee listings, professional/ personal contact lists, social media
links, organizational websites, list-serv groups, etc.). Encourage
families who are receiving services through your organization to
participate! We need your help getting the word out and would love nothing
more than to have an overwhelming turn out for the event. If you have
other ideas about how to spread the word, please let me know, as well.
Suggestions always welcome!****

I thank you in advance for your help and support and hope to see many of
you on Saturday, June 29th at SPIN-Frankford. ****
